Moonee Valley Festival
A much loved community festival
Festival Director 2005 – 2007
Mooney Valley Festival is a well established and much loved three-day community festival that kicks off with an opening night spectacular and culminates in a community day in Queens Park.
Ros brought a fresh approach to this festival during her tenure as Festival Director. She engaged a broader cross-section of the local community and art scene, and introduced new elements to the traditional Queens Park Sunday, including an interactive performance piece in an oracle bubble and a photo note photo booth.
She also developed a large-scale community project specific to each festival:
- In 2007 a thirtieth birthday parade engaged hundreds of individuals and community groups.
- In 2006, as part of the city’s Commonwealth Games celebration, a series of floating islands representing the islands of the Seychelles was constructed and opened for people to explore.
- In 2005 an architectural installation by local primary and secondary school students linked festival sites in the form of a stencil pathway, while a series of projections by a local artist lit up the sky.
